It started off just like any other day, though perhaps a bit earlier than normal...
But once Aurora figured out that we were leaving Ohio for good that day, she got a bit worried. As we were gathering up our last things to head out, she made sure to run around and grab some special things for her ride. She was very worried about some things getting left behind.
Aurora started getting even more concerned as we walked through the house and said good-bye to each room. She decided to grab her heart pillow at the last minute.
All buckled in!
"Say good-bye to Wooster, Aurora!"
And we were off! This magnetic dress up doll from Melissa and Doug was the best purchase ever. She played with it for at least 4 hours over the course of the trip. Yes, you read that right: our 3 year old played with a single toy for 4 or more hours! Best $11 I've ever spent. ;)
After getting through Columbus, a certain little baby boy woke up and wouldn't calm down by himself.
At that point, I moved to the back seat (between the car seats) and started to play with him. I spent the rest of the trip sitting back there. I'm SO GLAD my mom was there to drive us!!
We took a long lunch break at the Ikea just north of Cincinnati. Quinn loved standing at the great big windows, watching the cars in the parking lot.
I allowed Aurora to choose one special toy for her new room. She was very excited about that and had fun looking at all the stuff. In the end, she chose to get the second style of the Spoka night light (we call them "glowy friends"). I had suspected she might choose that, so I had packed her first glowy friend where I could get to it. I pulled it out for the next leg of our journey and the two glowy friends had fun playing together for quite a while.
Thankfully, baby boy fell asleep again...for a while.
Aurora watched a movie...and cuddled with her lovey for a while.
Then Quinn woke up and wouldn't calm down, so we found a park to take a break at. This was just north of Lexington. From that point on, it got a bit rough. We weren't sure we were going to be able to make it all the way to my parents' house that night.
Then we found out that there was a big detour due to the interstate being closed. So we pulled over and tried to figure out what to do. Quinn calmed down at that point and stayed calm once we decided to go on.
We finally made it to my parents' house after 12.5 hours of traveling. My mom drove the entire way because Quinn wouldn't stay calm without me in the back. What a blessing to have that help! I wouldn't have made it much past Cincinnati without her!
And that is how our crazy, long car trip went. Whew! Glad it's over!

Our New House!
Wil looked at over 20 apartments and houses (I think closer to 30) while searching for a place for us. He found a place he really liked, but when he went to put in an application for it the next morning, it was already rented. So he kept looking. The last place he looked at was this one...
It's an older house, built in the 1940s. It's been added onto a couple times, so the layout is a bit strange. BUT it has a reasonably-sized kitchen (smallish, but not a closet), a laundry room, garage, large living room, office, two bedrooms, and two extra rooms up stairs. It also has a dishwasher! The fenced-in backyard is wonderful, too. It's much, much larger than anything we've had before. It also needs a bit of work, which we're certainly willing to live with and work on for a lower rental price. ;)
Want to see inside? Let me give you a tour.... (you might need to let it load a bit)
I didn't take a video of the backyard, so here are some pictures of it....
A nice, basic deck right off of the house.
Looking right while standing on the deck.
Looking left.
So there you have it! Our new home! I can post more pictures if anyone is interested in a non-video tour.

He's Not Allowed to Do That Yet!
Quinn's been learning to sleep in his crib. But one day he had other plans. He decided not to sleep and when I came in to get him, he put one hand on the rail...
...then the other!!
AND STOOD UP!
At 7 months and 17 days old (on April 28th, when he did this), he is way too little to be doing this! :) Now he's working on cruising along stuff. Oh, Quinn, you're getting so big so quickly!

Tea Party!
We finally found a teapot and tea cups that will work well for Aurora and me to have tea parties! We had our first one at the end of April.
Instead of scones or biscuits, we had brownies. :)
Aurora was very concerned that the tea was too hot. When she finally drank it, she decided that she didn't actually like it.
But she was very curious about the tea bags in the tea pot.
And everything else!
She certainly keeps me thinking!

Not too long ago, Quinn figured how to clap. It was so adorable!
But then he realized he could communicate with it! The clapping quickly turned into the sign "more." I was so proud of him when I realized that he was already starting to sign! Now he likes to play little games with us...
Hooray for real communication!

Fall Down Dance!
Aurora came up with a hilarious dance one day and required Wil to do it with her. It is called a "fall down dance" and involves picking a "good flower" and running back and forth, some skipping, and falling down at the end!
She's so funny!

A Lovely Day!
While Aurora sits and watches...
...baby brother explores the world!
Watch this, Mommy, I've got this one down!
Dirt!
Um...
This doesn't taste as good as the other things I put in my mouth!
Hehe!

We Interrupt Our Regularly Scheduled Programming...
...to bring you an update on our move!
My mom, the kiddos, and I (Regina) start driving towards Tennessee tomorrow (5/9)! Yesterday's trip to Columbus (~2 hours one way) was so spectacularly awful for Quinn that we don't know if we're going to be able to make it all the way to TN in one day We don't want Quinn screaming as long as he did yesterday. Poor baby. We will stop part way if we need to.
Wil's last day of work is also tomorrow. He will spend all of Thursday (5/10) packing up the last odds and ends and cleaning the house. That evening, the truck will be loaded. After the walk-through with out landlord at 10am on Friday (5/11), he will set off for Tennessee.
We plan to move into our new home in Chattanooga (close to East Ridge area) on Saturday morning. We also need to find a refrigerator before we return the truck on Monday morning.
If you are in the Chattanooga area and can help unload the truck Saturday morning, please email Wil at willm.wade@gmail.com. I know we have several people who have already volunteered. THANK YOU!
And now some gratuitous cutie pie pictures:
Our little escape artist who thinks it's soooo funny to try to escape diaper changes.
And sweet Aurora who loooooves reading!
Now we return you to your regularly scheduled programming!

Scooting!
I apologize for my month-long blogging break. Things have been a bit crazy around here. :)
Quinn went from almost scooting...
To scooting...
To speeding!
We have to be careful of where we're stepping because we're often surprised where Quinn shows up. Aurora is hard-pressed to protect her toys from his intrusion and has finally realized the value of closing her bedroom door. And poor Quinn just gets ticked off that he can't get into everything he works so hard to get to! It's tough being a baby....
