Playing with Uncle Kyle
Yesterday was Aurora's 7 month birthday. We celebrated by letting Uncle Kyle come visit for the afternoon. :) I thought some of you might enjoy a few videos of the two of them...

Walking with Daddy!
My mother requested more videos of Aurora since she hasn't had her "Aurora fix" for a while. So here's a few fresh from today. :)
And when Daddy gets tired of leaning over like that, he resorts to this....
And when we get a bit silly....
And finally, one from a week an a half ago, when she was only just figuring out how to scoot. :) I apologize for the chair being in the wrong place and for the noise of the sink (Wil was doing the dishes for me!), but it gives the video a nice "real life" feel doesn't it? ;)

Bathtime fun!
Aurora is almost 7 months old! Wow. In celebration, I'm uploading two more videos. That's right, a two-video post again! I can't separate these two videos because they show how much Aurora loves her bathtime. She loves it so much that she will come scooting into the bathroom all by herself, if she's encouraged enough. Observe her incredible cuteness:
And now for the bath itself. There's a reason she loves bathtime so much: she can move around a lot more in the water than she can on dry land. This video almost makes me dizzy. :)

Daddy's Girl
Over the past week Aurora has been protesting, strongly, whenever Wil tries to rock her to sleep. It would be funny if it weren't for the fact that she insists on being rocked with whoever is doing the rocking standing up (no sitting down!) and rocking her has begun to make my back hurt. She's getting big! :) :( We've tried being sneaky a couple nights and had me rock her until she was almost asleep then carefully passing her over to Wil to finish the job. Sadly, that process disturbs her just enough that she flails out and inevitably finds Wil's beard, which is a dead giveaway that Mommy is NOT holding her. Screaming ensues. Mommy returns to rock her after a few minutes of letting Daddy try to calm her down. Silly girl. At night when she's sleepy she's definitely a Mommy's girl.
But during the day... Mommy, step aside. Whenever Wil comes home from work (lunch or dinner time), if Aurora sees him coming she'll start doing her little excited arm-flap body-bounce dance that's soooo funny (I wish I had a video). Smiles, and giggles, and bounces and reaching all for Daddy. Nevermind that she had just been crying for Mommy. And today, when Daddy left for work, she watched him kiss Mommy good-bye and begin walking away and she started scooting as fast as she could after him. She tried to follow him around the turn into the hall, but she just wasn't fast enough. She stopped and looked around sadly as I heard the door open, so I called to Wil to say good-bye again. He stepped back and said good-bye again to her and Aurora got a great big smile on her face, and scooted towards him all the faster. He had to keep going, so I scooped her up and we followed him out and waved good-bye from the porch. She watch him the whole time, flapped her arms to him as he got in the car, and watched as the car drove away. No tears yet, but I'm thinking those will come soon.
Yep, she's a Daddy's girl, no doubt about it. :)

Playing!
Working on embedding videos from YouTube, we'll see if I can get this to work...
Anyways. Aurora recently discovered that her baby swing swings. She seems to find that very interesting. I think it's rather entertaining, so I took a video. Enjoy! :)
And, about a week and a half ago, Aurora learned to scoot. She's getting pretty good at it!

Our Little Trekkie!!
So what happens when you take a cast-off golden t-shirt and have some fun with it? :) The color just screamed "Captain Kirk!" at me....
The rank stripes on the sleeves.
The Starfleet insignia.
Aurora modeling her new outfit! Isnt' she cute?
Space, the final frontier....
These are the voyages of our little officer-in-training, Aurora.
Who's ongoing mission is the seek and destroy anything destroyable, everything else goes in the mouth. :)

Lots of Giggles
Sometimes Aurora gets in giggly moods. They're lots of fun, especially when I can set up the camera without her knowing. :)

Knocking Things Down!
Today I experimented with transitions between unconnected segments of video. I'll let you decide how I did by letting you watch this video of Aurora knocking over pyramids of juice bottles. Yes, juice bottles. You see, Aurora doesn't have any blocks or toys that stack very easily, but we've been given lots of baby-sized juice bottles which are just the prefect size for her to play with. So the juice bottles have become her blocks. Why buy toys when something else works just as well?!

Playing
Aurora enjoys playing quietly by herself. OK, not quietly, really, and not generally by herself, but she does like to play. Especially when that playing involves chewing on things that weren't really meant to be chewed on.
She also likes kicking. Kicking everything. I have lots of bruises to prove it.
But what happens when she realizes that Mommy isn't playing with her?
Tears sometimes. But she's also conquering this skill called "moving." Currently she moves by rolling and a little bit of wiggling. Soon she'll be scooting and crawling. Watch out world when she figures that out!
Today she got distracted on her way to visit Mommy. She found that the shoes in the entryway were worth some inspection.
Stretching out to get one...
Whoo-hoo!! I got Daddy's shoe! It's almost bigger than I am!
At that point Mommy returned Aurora to her room, where Aurora got into another fun activity. It, of course, involved chewing...
